چکیده
Abstract We report a robust fabrication method for patterning freestanding Pt nanowires use as thermal anemometry probes small-scale turbulence measurements. Using e-beam lithography, high aspect ratio (~300 nm width, ~70 µm length, ~100 thickness) were patterned on the surface of oxidized silicon (Si) wafers. Combining wet etching processes with dry processes, these successfully released, rendering them between two dioxide (SiO 2 ) beams supported Si cantilevers. Moreover, unique design bridge holding device allowed gentle release without damaging nanowires. The total time was minimized by restricting lithography to nanowires, while standard photolithography employed other parts devices. demonstrate that fabricated sensors are suitable measurements when operated in constant-current mode. A calibration output voltage and fluid velocity established over range from 0.5 5 m s −1 SF 6 atmosphere at pressure bar temperature 21 °C. sensing signal showed negligible drift period several hours. we confirmed can withstand dynamic pressures testing air room velocities up 55 .

Turbulence measurements using a nanoscale thermal anemometry probe
A nanoscale thermal anemometry probe (NSTAP) has been developed to measure velocity fluctuations at ultra-small scales. The sensing element is a free-standing platinum nanoscale wire, 100 nm× 2 μm× 60 μm, suspended between two currentcarrying contacts and the sensor is an order of magnitude smaller than presently available commercial hot wires. The probe is constructed using standard semiconduc...
متن کاملThermal Flow Measurements at Gr/Re by Silicon Anemometry
We present the first characteristics of air flow measurements in the mixed convective region with strong buoyancy effects (Gr/Re 1), using a thermal silicon double-Wheatstonebridge vector sensor. The Alternating Direction Method is applied to eliminate additive drift influences. The upper limit on the mixed convective region is experimentally defined to be given by Gr/Re = [0:3–0:8]. Flow veloc...

Nanoporous Pt-Co alloy nanowires were synthesized by electrodeposition of Co-rich Pt(1)Co(99) alloy into anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membranes, followed by a dealloying treatment in a mild acidic medium. These nanowires consist of porous skeletons with tiny pores of 1-5 nm and crystalline ligaments of 2-8 nm. Morphological and compositional evolutions of the porous Pt-Co nanowires upon dealloyi...
متن کاملThermal Anemometry Grid Sensor
A novel thermal anemometry grid sensor was developed for the simultaneous measurement of cross-sectional temperature and axial velocity distribution in a fluid flow. The sensor consists of a set of platinum resistors arranged in a regular grid. Each platinum resistor allows the simultaneous measurement of fluid temperature via electrical resistance and flow velocity via constant voltage thermal...
متن کاملSpatial resolution correction for hot-wire anemometry in wall turbulence
We investigate spatial resolution issues in hot-wire anemometry measurements of turbulence intensity and energy spectra. Single normal hot-wire measurements are simulated by means of filtering direct numerical simulation (DNS) of turbulent channel flow at Res 1⁄4 934. Through analysis of the two-dimensional energy spectra from the DNS, the attenuation of the small-scale energy levels is documen...
